This is the first main town encountered along SS64, and derives from the Bissari family. The family built the “Castello”, a huge medieval-style building still used as a private residence, and the neoclassical villa San Carlo, currently a spiritual retreat, with a spectacular frescoed loggia and park with an ornamental lake. Worth a visit is the parish church San Giorgio Martire, it is located on a small hill and gives some good views of the surroundings.
