Cogollo del Cengio sits on the northern banks of the Astico river and at the base of Monte Cengio. Sight of an important battle in 1916 during WWI. The battle saw the entire elimination of the Sardinia Grenadier Brigade. The mountain today is considered a national monument. In the town is dominated by the towers of the church of San Critofano and the bell tower of the 13 th century church Sat’Agata.
